FACT: Charter Schools enroll students who need help in school and do not expel or “counsel out” students who don’t perform.

Charter schools welcome students of all learning levels and do not enroll only high performing students. In the 2023-24 academic year in Rochester, 4 students were expelled and 2 students withdrew before expulsion procedures were completed. This represents less than one tenth of a percent  of all charter school students. Charter schools do not “return students to the district” due to low academic performance.
